London, UK - Funny, cute, or astonishing: the Comedy Pet Photography Awards is looking for the animals that made us laugh the most this year.

Whether unintentional or not, pets are often hilarious. Cats hanging out with a feathered friend, dogs with the latest in facial hair fashion, and even a-moo-sing cows acting like house pets: animals always find a way to surprise and delight.

This year more than most, we've all needed a good laugh. So it makes sense to reward the furry friends who made it all possible. That's what Paul Joynson-Hicks and the other founders of the Comedy Pet Photography Awards are aiming for with their annual ceremony. One again, it's time for the distinguished judges to pick out the funniest animal moments of the past 12 months.

There's also a worthwhile cause behind all the fun, as the organizers write on their website: "We want to bang the drum as loud as we can for animal welfare and make sure it is at the heart of what we do. Because behind the funny images of the competition, there is a very serious and fundamental message to help, respect and care for our animals in the most humane way possible."

Anyone with a hysterical photo of their pet can enter for a small fee. All proceeds will go to the Animal Friends Insurance and Animal Support Angels charities.

There's also a pretty penny up for grabs: the winner will take home just over $2,700 – and the bragging rights to the world's funniest pet for 2020!
