With a smile on her face, Karen Bockrath referred to the black bear as her "pet" as she talked to NBC2 about the frequent visits she keeps getting.

The former nurse first saw signs of something going on about a month ago, when she realized that her porch screen had been ripped.

While she was shocked at first, it didn't take her long to identify the culprit. It was a giant bear who now likes to come over every other day to chill in her backyard.

However, the animal doesn't just love lounging in the sun, he also has become a huge fan of sitting in Bockrath's pool from time to time.

Fortunately, he has not yet caused any more damage than the shredded screen as he is "kind enough to use the same door... for each visit."

The bear has once even checked out Bockrath's living room

Bockrath is still perplexed about what attracted the bear in the first place – was it the soft rock music she sometimes likes to play?

Even though she is not afraid of her guest most of the time, there have been quite some nerve-wracking situations already.

"It was only scary when he came up to my sliders and was checking out my living room," she said. "I really hope he doesn't think my new couch looks comfy."

Bockrath thinks the bear could be about seven years old, as she has seen him wandering around the Golden Gates Estates area for a long time now.

"When he was a cub, his mom would always be in the backyard with him and his brother. I'd see him walking in the yard a couple times a week."

Bockrath has yet to contact animal control because she is afraid the bear will be euthanized.
