A former US senator and prosecutor from California, Kamala Harris made history in 2020 by becoming the first female, first Black, and first South Asian Vice President of the United States, serving alongside President Joe Biden until leaving office in January 2025.

After Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential election, Harris was swiftly put in as the Democrats' nominee and immediately started a 15-week campaign for the top job. Having secured hundreds of millions in funding and endorsements from prominent Democrats, she attempted to galvanize a multiracial, intergenerational coalition and once again make history.

When election day came, however, Harris was unsuccessful in her attempt to take down President Donald Trump in his bid for a second term. The loss saw Trump parachuted to the White House and installed as the US' 47th President.
